Meeting Called to Order - Russ
Billy Hollinsworth volunteered for the 2 year position
on the board.
Roads - Raymond
Road maintenance continues as a priority. There has been
money budged for road maintenance, widening some of the
curves and culvert repairs or replacements. Huffman
Paving from Hickory has notified Raymond that they will
be coming to work on the roads this spring. If any
property owner would like to have their driveway paved
while the paving company is in Leatherwood, notify
Raymond so that he can notify Huffman Paving.
Eileen Jurand and Curt Tucker have been appointed to
work on the road committee. They each live on opposite
ends of the mountain so it will be easy for them to see
where problems arise. Paul McWhirter has stated that
would like to continue helping with the roads.
It was pointed out that property owners be reminded that
it is their responsibility to clean up any driveway wash
that occurs on the main road and to properly maintain
their driveway drainage.
Pool Well -- Raymond
A request had been made to add another home to the
existing water system. Johnny Huffman, a plumber who has
done extensive repair work on the pool's well,
recommended that no other home tap into this well
system.
Pool - Raymond
Pool opens Memorial Day weekend for Leatherwood use.
Pool will be opened two weeks prior for inspections and
any repairs to be made. It was mentioned that new
guardrails are needed in the parking area of the pool.
Security and Gate - Steve
Tony Antonelli is our new security officer. Tony is
retired from active duty military and brings
professionalism and courtesy to his job. He will be
patrolling Leatherwood property 20 hours per week in a
marked car and he wears a uniform. Included in Tony's 20
hours per week is some weekend patrolling each month,
monitoring the gate and making about two rounds on the
roads per shift. This is about a 46 mile trip. The POA
is responsible for the required gasoline for Tony's
work.
Renters will be provided a hanger to be displayed on
their rear view mirrors for easier monitoring of
traffic.
Property owners will be provided a sticker for their
vehicles to be displayed anywhere in their front window.
It will be approximately 2"X3" and will have the
Leatherwood Logo on it. Each property owner will also be
provided with guest passes for their guests to use
during their visits. It is strongly recommended that
property owner's guests use the guest code while in
Leatherwood. The codes will be:
xxxxx Property Owners
xxxxx Guests
More guest passes will be available from Lindsey
throughout the year. A separate code will be given to
contractors. A camera surveillance and recorder will all
be part of our new security gate. A VCR will provide us
with a permanent record of activity through the gate.
A small sign in front of the keypad house will provide
warnings that the property is under both electronic and
patrol surveillance. A "billfold card" providing
instructions on the use of keypads will be provided to
each property owner. Raymond and Steve will design the
surveillance warning sign. The intent is to provide
information without being too bold and intrusive.
Keys Cabin -- David Bridgers
It has been determined that the goal for Keys Cabin is
to stabilize the structure. A work list has previously
been provided. Workdays will be determined at a later
date.
Fire Concerns - David Raynes
It was stated that Buck Mountain was able to get its own
substation. Some of the people on the board are willing
to speak with some of the Buck Mountain residents to
find out how they went about the process. David will be
getting more information on how to proceed or possibly
apply for grants.
Recreation -- Delaine
There is still $1,000 in reserve to be designated to the
playground and recreation area. Stain will be applied to
the log cabin. Delaine may contact Steve Morton to
assist in the determination of the use of those funds.
Entertainment Committee
Delaine Parker and Eileen Jurand have been appointed to
head up the entertainment committee.
Adjournment
Next scheduled POA Board meeting is scheduled for July
6th at Saddlebrook Restaurant at 9:30 AM.
Respectfully submitted, Leatherwood Mountains Property
Owners Association, Inc., Eileen Jurand
